4 Ways to Protect Your Well from the Cold

Cold weather is on the way and it's important to be prepared! Here are several things you can do to protect your water supply from the frigid cold.

1. If your pressure tank and plumbing are located in a well house, it is important to seal doors, windows and openings to prevent cold wind from entering the area.

2. Insulate or install heat tape on the exposed water pipes.

3. A heat lamp or heater installed in the room will also help prevent freeze ups. However, be cautious as you should always keep the heat away from combustible materials. Remember if the heat is too close to the PVC pipe or wiring, it can melt them.

4. Another preventative measure during extreme cold is to leave your faucet on enough to allow it to drip.

Currie Drilling wants all of their customers to be prepared for the cold. However, we are here to assist you whenever you need it! Please call with any questions or if you would like us to check out your system or install heat tape on your pipes.
