Test Hole Drilling

Test hole drilling involves drilling a small diameter hole and logging the geologic formations encountered. It may also include performing an electronic log. This is done to determine the best location and depth of the well and if the well has the potential to produce the desired amount of water.

Steps to Drilling a Well

STEP 1: Receive an estimate, sign and return the estimate. Once we have received a signed estimate, we will place you on the list and give you an estimated timeframe.  This is not exact, there are many variables that can delay the process including weather, equipment, parts and personnel. We do our best to give you a good estimate on timeframe, but it can change depending on the variables listed above. We will mark the location 3-5 days before drilling begins. If there is a specific location you would like the well, you can speak to our driller and we will do our best (depending on regulations) to accommodate your request.

STEP 2: DRILLING THE WELL. Depending on the depth, it should take 3-5 days. Sometimes that could be shorter or longer depending on the circumstances. (Weather, equipment & personnel)

STEP 3: THE CASING. Once the well is drilled, we will set casing and gravel pack.

STEP 4:  We will develop the well by bailing and surging the well once the casing is set. This is done to remove any drilling mud in the well, formation and tighten the gravel pack. This time frame varies depending on the formation and the depth.

STEP 5: Once the well is drilled, a Currie Drilling Service crew will come and set the pump and motor in the well. This should take place around a week to two weeks after we drill the well depending on crew availability.

STEP 6: The final step is the tie-in to your existing system or new home. Another Currie Drilling Service crew will come complete this task. Typically, if the home is new construction the plumbers and electricians will tie the well into the house. This is something we can do if necessary. If the well needs to be tied into an existing system, it can be a longer process to ditch wire and connect to the existing system. Every tie-in is different and time and materials vary depending on the distance from the well to the house.

Payment: Half of the estimate is due before we begin drilling. The other half will be billed upon completion. If you would like options on financing your well, please call our office for options.
